About VICKI HONE SMITH
I am a Northwest native, residing in Edmonds and a participating artist at Graphite Arts Center in downtown Edmonds.
Drawn to the simplicity of form, shadow and light in the way it reflects or illuminates a subject. So it begins, always exploring, looking beyond what is seen at first glance, into the subtle nuances usually in nature that can lead to expressions in the abstract. It is most often in the unseen where the true essence of a living thing is found. Capturing these moments in images that communicate what I see and feel is always the challenge. To draw a similar response or curiosity from those who view my work is the reward.
Although the pull toward photography remains a constant, combining it with mixed mediums, such as encaustics, opens up new avenues of expression for creating, with my hands, one-of-a-kind works of art. At this time most of the images on my website are photographs. New ones and new collections are gradually being added. Mixed media images will be added slowly as prints of the originals. If any originals are for sale, there will be information on how to contact me directly. Thank you for visiting.
